Application Performance
PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT
white spacer FreezeFrame 2.5 GA white spacer
FreezeFrame is one of the main solutions in the Macro 4 Application Performance suite. It is clearly now the market leader and we are continuing to add new functionality to both the core solution and its increasing range of supporting solutions such as ExpeTune and ExpeTune DB. Every z/OS site worldwide could benefit from using FreezeFrame to improve the performance of the installation and to significantly save both money and time.

FreezeFrame 2.5 is a consolidation release which pulls together a range of features some of which were first made available as updates to release 2.4. A short summary of the most significant features includes:

UNIX Systems Services multi-address space support
This sounds like a bit of detailed technical feature, but is in fact a very useful and powerful ability that adds significant value to almost all z/OS installations. It allows FreezeFrame to detect spawned address spaces, and sub-steps generated in a USS measurement. This applies to FTP server sessions and NETSTAT commands for instance. When these additional address spaces are detected, measurements will automatically be started for them.

New HFS (Hierarchical File System) Reports
HFS file activity is now measured, and 11 new HFS File reports have been added.

New Variance report (compare feature)
This feature allows the user to select two measurements for comparison. The results of the compare are reported in a new Variance report.

Source Program Mapping support for date/time checking
The Source Program Mapping feature has been enhanced to allow the compile date and time in the listing to be checked against the data in the measurement.

Source Program Mapping support for multiple dataset search
The Source Program Mapping feature has been enhanced so that a list of up to 20 datasets containing source can be saved in the user’s profile. These datasets can then be searched for source matching the data in a measurement.

Trigger measurement feature
This feature allows the user to specify an additional measurement to be triggered when a scheduled measurement starts.

New WAIT report W04
A new WAIT report provides wait time by Enqueue/Reserve.

New option to show performance utilization percentage
This can appear on program listing statements instead of total counts.
