Scottish Sysprog Group
Morag Senior of Aegon and Andy Coulson of RBS are considering setting up a group for systems programmers in Scotland. We understand that there was one in existence several years ago, which was reasonably successful while it lasted! Is there anybody based in Scotland who would be interested in being involved in such a group, and what are your views on what format it might take? In an informal context a local group, meeting up on occasional evenings, might be valuable for making contacts and getting a feel for what other data centres are focussed on. On a more formal note, we could organise regular technical meetings, depending on whether we could get venues and people willing to attend/present. If you are interested in becoming part of a local Scottish group, then please could you send Morag an email at morag.senior@aegon.co.uk with your contact details. If you have a strong opinion on what form you think the group should take, or you can offer support in terms of ideas/presentations, then please include them.

5. Hints and Tips
Some debate ensued around various items with feedback as follows:
Beware of an HFS/ZFS Migration issue, which results in corrupt data. The APAR relating to this HFS to zFS problem is OA29143. Still open and getting weirder.
Does anybody have experience of Workload Manager (WLM) hooks into applications. We have a homegrown TP Monitor, from which we would like to define Applications to WLM.
Paul Arnerich suggested that there are samples, which can be found documented at the Washington Systems Centre website.
- Mark Wilson (RSM Partners)
Can anybody explain the APF Authorisation of the System Rexx Library.
Roger Fowler(IBM) duly produced a presentation…..that he made earlier!
